A1 Housing grants two types of tenancy – secure or introductory. If you are a tenant of A1 Housing or other social landlord and are transferring, then you will be offered a secure tenancy. If you are not currently a tenant of a social landlord then you will be offered an introductory tenancy. An introductory tenancy lasts for 12 months, after which it becomes secure provided that there have been no problems. An introductory tenant has fewer rights and it is easier for A1 Housing to get the property back during the first 12 months, it is likened to having a probationary period to ensure that new tenants stick to the terms of their tenancy agreement.
The rights and obligations of both Introductory and Secure tenants are detailed in our tenancy agreement - please click Tenancy Agreement.
