What are Adaptations?

If you or a member of your household have a disability or special needs, we can make changes to your home that help you remain independent and make living in your home a little safer.

Minor Adaptations

These cost less than £1,000 and examples include:

  • Grab Rails
  • Half Step
  • Stair Rails

All minor adaptations are available through our Fast Track service which, for a small fee, does not require a visit by the Occupational Therapist, is not means tested and will be completed within 28 days.

Please call us for more information on our Fast Track service.

Major Adaptations

These cost more than £1,000 and examples include:

  • Wet Rooms and Showers
  • Stair lifts
  • Hoists
  • Ramps

Should you need a Major Adaptation you will be referred to an Occupational Therapist and you may also need to complete a means test form.

If you are already claiming the following benefits you will NOT need to complete a means test form:

  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit - Guarantee Credit
  • Income based Job-Seekers Allowance
  • Housing / Council Tax Benefit

Please call us for more information about means testing and how you can be referred.
