A1 Housing is managed by a Board of Non-Executive Directors, which is made up of 5 tenant representatives, 5 nominated Bassetlaw District Council representatives, and 5 appointed independent members.

Board Membership

A1 Housing Bassetlaw Limited is an arms length housing company established by Bassetlaw District Council to manage, maintain and improve its housing stock. The Company is managed by a Board of Non-Executive Directors, which is made up of the following:

 

Tenant Representatives

Five Tenant Representatives, one to represent each of the four main geographical areas of Bassetlaw,  Tenant Board Members cover each of the 4 geographical areas (Retford Town, Retford Rural, Worksop Town, Worksop Rural), with one Tenant Board Member appointed by the Tenants Association. Tenant representatives covering geographical areas are elected to the Board through a tenant election process, and, do not have to be a member of a Tenants and Residents Association.  There are no elections in 2007, as all Tenant Board Members have joined A1 Housing after September 2005, with Tenant Board Members holding office for 3 years. 

 

Independent Members

Five Independent Members, who have a local connection to Bassetlaw.  Independent Members have skills or expertise within Local Government or the private sector at a senior level in areas such as: Business Management, Finance, Legal, Human Resources and/or Training, Housing Management, Building and Contracting, Public Relations, Marketing, Community Work, Information Technology.  One Independent Board Member will retire at the September 2007.  Adverts were placed in local papers and A1’s Internet site during June, with prospective candidates interviewed during July 2007.

Bassetlaw District Council nominates five Council Representatives.

 

Serving the Community

The role of Board Member is undertaken on a voluntary basis, although out of pocket expenses are paid. Membership on the Board presents a significant opportunity to serve the local community, and to contribute to the regeneration of Bassetlaw.

 

The day to day running of the Company is delegated to a Senior Management Team headed by a Managing Director. Membership of the Senior Management Team includes the Managing Director, the Director of Technical and Housing Services, the Director of Corporate Services and the Director of Strategy and Change.
