Right To Buy Your Home

Right to Buy

Under the Right to Buy scheme, A1 Housing tenants can buy their home at a price lower than the full market value.

You can only apply for a Right to Buy if you have been a secure tenant for at least five years, and it is this time spent as a tenant that entitles you to a discount.

The longer you have been a tenant, the greater the discount you should be eligible for. Discounts go up to a maximum of £24,000 and are based on:

  • How long you have been a tenant
  • The valuation of your property
  • The size of property you're buying

Please also be aware that at the present time we do not sell bungalows.

We have put together a simplified guide to the Right to Buy scheme, to read this please click here.

For more detailed information please read the Government's guide or visit the Communities and Local Government website.

We recommend that you seek independent legal advice about buying your home. You should also seek independent financial advice about the different types of mortgage that are available.

If you are thinking of buying your flat, this is called a Leasehold. Please visit our Leaseholder section for more information
