Always ask to see ID

Tuesday 31st January 2012

A1 HOUSING is reminding all of its tenants, and the wider public, to be wary of bogus callers who try to scam their way into your home.

Fraudsters such as these generally prey on the elderly and vulnerable but anyone can be a victim of a Bogus Caller, which is why we always say - 'If in doubt, keep them out!'

A1 Housing will only respond to repairs that you have reported and we advise that you do not open the door to anyone you do not know.

All A1 Housing staff and our approved partners carry identification cards and always show these before they enter any tenant's home.

If you are unsure of an appointment or the identity of a member of A1 Housing staff, you can contact A1 Housing on 0800 590542 and we can confirm the name of the repairs operative or approved partner who has been sent to your home.

"We would like all our tenants, their family members and friends, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable, to be vigilant against bogus callers," said Joice Rennie, A1 Housing's Director of Strategy and Change.

"If you have an experience such as this, please immediately contact Nottinghamshire Police and A1 Housing."
