Money Advice

A1 Housing's Money Advisor is always on hand to help customers make the most of their finances.

Our Money Advisor has already helped hundreds of tenants to make sense of their money through financial health checks, ensuring they receive all the benefits they are entitled to and advice on how to manage debts to make their money go further.

We also give plenty of advice for future tenants on the housing waiting list, especially those who will be living independently for the first time and may not be aware of the costs of setting up and running a home. To read this guide, click here

If you have money worries and would like free and confidential advice, contact our Money Advisor, Adam Mills to make an appointment. He will be happy to visit you in your home or at any of the following A1 Housing offices:

Our Money Advisor works with a number of organisations to help A1 Housing tenants with savings, loans and other money matters, these include:

Bassetlaw District Council's Housing Benefit Unit

Housing Benefit is help for anyone on a low income who pays rent. The amount you may get will depend on the size of your household, how much rent you pay and how much income and saving you have. To use BDC's Benefit Calculator, click here.

2 Shires Credit Union

Anyone who lives or works in Bassetlaw can take advantage of the various flexible saving schemes and low cost affordable loan options from 2 Shires Credit Union. For more information, click here.

Home Contents Insurance

We advise all tenants to insure their household property with a Home Contents Insurance policy as furniture, belongings or decorations are not covered by A1 Housing or Bassetlaw District Council.
By taking out home contents insurance you will be insured against theft, fire, vandalism, burst pipes and other household risks. We advise all tenants to shop around for this insurance cover, but A1 Housing has its own easy to pay policy. Speak to our Money Advisor or for more information, click here.

The Money Advice Service

The Money Advice Service is a new and independant organisation - set up by government in April 2011 and funded by a levy on the financial services industry. It offers free, unbiased money advice accross the UK - online, over the phone and face to face. Click here to go to the Money Advice Service website.
