To do this our Gas Safe Registered engineers must carry out a safety check to all A1 Housing properties every year to ensure the health and safety of you and your family.
During this safety check we will also give your gas central heating system a service, which will ensure your appliances are working correctly and efficiently. Depending on the amount of work required, this should be completed within 30 minutes.
The law requires Liberty on behalf of A1 Housing to enter every property each year and carry out a gas safety check. We will make every effort to do this at a time that is convenient to you and, as a tenant you must allow us access once you have been notified.
We will send you a letter six weeks before your annual safety check is due. Once the first appointment has been made, you have the right to make a second appointment on a day to suit you.
You can do this by calling our gas team on 0330 333 5786. You can also find out when your next gas safety check is due by looking at your Gas Safety Certificate.
Failure to allow us access to your home may lead to your gas supply being disconnected until the safety check can be carried out. If we are unable to gain access after three attempts we will apply to the courts for access.
We will do everything we can to avoid court action by:
Sending you an appointment letter
Leave calling cards when you are out
Call at your home randomly to try and meet with you and gain access

Reporting a gas leak
If you think you can smell gas, immediately do the following and then call National Grid on 0800 111 999
- Put out any cigarettes or naked flames
- Check you have not left a gas tap or cooker on
- Turn off your gas supply at the meter
- Open doors and windows to let the gas out
- Do not use electrical switches, doorbells or a naked flame
- Do not use a phone in the property - it can cause sparks
National Grid will make your home safe and advise you what to do next.
