The Decent Homes programme is a national scheme that was brought in by the Government to improve the overall standard of social housing.
A1 Housing started work on the Decent Homes programme in November 2007, and in this time we have made more than 80% of A1 Housing Properties in Bassetlaw meet the Government's Decent Homes Standard.
To be classed as decent, your home should:
- Meet the current legal housing standard
- Be in a reasonable state of repair
- Provide a reasonable degree of warmth and thermal comfort
It should also have reasonably modern facilities and services, which means:
- Your kitchen should be no more than 20 years old
- Your bathroom should be no more than 30 years old
Other elements such as roofs, electrical wiring, windows and doors are also included in the Decent Homes programme.
