A1 Housing is managed by a Board of 15 non-executive directors which is made up of five tenants, five District Councillors and five independent members.
The Board is in place to monitor the performance of all areas within A1 Housing, review policy and procedure and each year's budgets and accounts.
While the day to day running of the organisation is delegated to the Managing Director and their team of Directors, the board will ensure that A1 Housing is run with the best interests of it tenants always in mind.
The role of Board Member is undertaken on a voluntary basis, although expenses are paid.

Tenant Board Members
Four of our five Tenant Board Members each represent the main geographical areas of Bassetlaw including Retford Town, Retford Rural, Worksop Town and Worksop Rural. The fifth Tenant Board Member is appointed by the Bassetlaw Association of Tenants and Residents Associations.
Tenant representatives covering geographical areas are elected to the Board through a tenant election process, and do not have to be a member of a Tenants and Residents' Association. Tenant Board Members hold office for three years.
Council Representatives
Bassetlaw District Council nominates five Council Representatives to sit on the board of A1 Housing.
Independent Members
Our Independent Members all have a local connection to Bassetlaw. They also bring with them skills or expertise within Local Government or the private sector at a senior level in areas such as; Business Management, Finance, Legal, Human Resources and/or Training, Housing Management, Building and Contracting, Public Relations, Marketing, Community Work, Information Technology.

Members of the Public are welcome to attend Board Meetings and the first 15 minutes are set aside for an open session where members of the public can put questions to the Board and /or Senior Management Team. If a question cannot be answered at the meeting a written response will be given.
