Caretaking Service
A1 Housing, working in partnership with Groundwork Creswell and SureStart Childrens Centres provides a comprehensive caretaking service that covers all A1 Housing estates and neighbourhoods throughout Bassetlaw. The caretaking service is a totally mobile service with 4 teams, each with 2 caretakers. They are managed by a dedicated Supervisor. Our caretakers are out and about in all weathers, come rain or shine, helping to keep our estates clean and tidy.

Their main responsibilities include:
• General caretaking duties on our housing estates including litter picking, removal of dumped rubbish and furniture etc.
• From Monday August 9th 2010 A1 Housings Mobile Caretaking Service offers a collection service for its tenants across the whole of the district for bulky household items and white goods. Please click here for more details.
• Removal of graffiti from A1 managed areas. Our target times for removal of graffiti following notification are as follows:
- 24 hours: Offensive graffiti - Offensive applies where graffiti is racially offensive, hostile to religious groups, sexually offensive or homophobic, explicit in terms of foul language, depicts or encourages a sexual or violent act or is defamatory.
- 5 days: All other graffiti - not covered above nb: timescales exclude Sat/Sun
• Opening, closing and preparation of A1’s Community Centres for prearranged bookings (Bingo, social clubs etc). For more information about our Community Centres please click here.

Carrying out minor repairs on estates, and noting and reporting
more major repairs.
• Being A1’s ‘eyes and ears’ on our estates, helping the
Neighbourhood Housing Officer deal with
anti-social behaviour.
The caretaking teams are provided with the latest fully equipped
vans and have received specialised training in graffiti removal
techniques. Groundwork Cresswell provide us with additional
staffing through the Future Jobs Fund (FJF). FJF staff are
local people who for various reasons may have been out of work for
quite a while. They work with us for a short period of time, which
helps them gain work experience that in turn will help their
chances of gaining full time employment elsewhere.
