Homefinder is Bassetlaw's Choice Based Lettings Scheme, used to allocate council properties in bassetlaw. Home finder is a coplete reversal from the traditional approach to allocating council housing giving applicants more choice.

The HomeFinder Choice Based Lettings Scheme publishes information (on the internet, telephone and in our Property Shops) and encourages applicants on the waiting list to take control and choose which home, and in which area they would like to live and apply in their own time, instead of waiting in turn to be contacted.

In order to bid you must have an active housing application on the Bassetlaw District Council Housing Register.  If you are already registered with A1 Housing, you have been automatically registered on Homefinder and can check to see which properties are available every week and put your names forward if you are interested in any.

You may bid on up to three properties each week, either through this website, through the automated telephone system on 0800 230 4365 or by visiting our Property Shops at Retford or Worksop.

HomeFinder has the following key points.

• vacant properties are advertised
• applicants bid for any property they are interested in (within the usual eligibility criteria)
• applicants who bid are ranked according to preset criteria
• only applicants who make bids are considered
• results of the bids and allocation of the property are fed back so that applicants can choose their property with full details of previous vacancy

What choice do I have?

All applicants have a choice of the type of property and where they want to live and you will only be considered for a property you have actually bid for.

Although we have many flats, houses and bungalows, not every area has the full range of properties.; We will shortly publish a guide to the different housing areas in bassetlaw to help you make the right choice for your future.

How do I apply?

Simply complete and return our application form which is available to download here. Please ensure you complete all the questions fully or we may have to return the form to you for more information.

When your application has been registered we will write to you giving you your unique reference number.

What happens next?

Once you are registered on the list you will be able to start bidding for any of the advertsied properties in which you are interested.

How long will I have to wait?

How long you will wait depends on how many other people are interested in the ;same type of property and area, the number of properties the Council owns and how often these come empty.;;The wider;the choice of properties and areas you bid for the more likely it is that you will be rehoused more quickly.

How can I get more information?
